Direct from our luxury travel partner in Italy, IC Bellagio. In their words:
The scenery and charming beauty of Lake Como, with its old world charm and snowcapped mountains have always had the ability to grip you at first sight.
Although, that is completely true, there is something particularly special about the Lake at this time of year with its remarkable colours and wonderful atmosphere resulting from the new season arriving with us that just gives it a certain edge.

Playing our part in making it a time of year to remember, we have been busy this month making big preperations regards the accomodations we can offer on the Lake. We begin our latest newsletter by covering the latest events regarding our very own unique and historic Italian Renaissance Palace, Palazzo De Vice Re, situated in the heart of the Central Lake Area, Lezzeno… as well one of our most beautiful Villa’s, Villa dei Sogni.
Palazzo De Vice Re
We are thrilled to announce to you that we will be opening the doors to IC Bellagio’s very own Historic Palace, Palazzo De Vice Re, on June 1st, 2014. Situated on the shores of Lake Como far from the hustle and bustle of Milan and Como and just minutes from the charming lakeside town of Bellagio, lies the picturesque fishing village of Lezzeno. And nestled among its colorful buildings, just behind the leafy square by the harbor, sits Il Palazzo del Vice Re, a lovingly restored aristocratic palace that has been transformed into a unique boutique property. When you step through the stone arch onto the courtyard’s well-worn paving stones, you take your place among the colorful cast of characters that make up this typical Italian borgo and start living Lake Como’s special brand of la dolce vita. Now is the time for us to introduce you to the five separate living quarters, within our medieval ‘borgo’, all different in size and setting:
L’Isola Comacina Apartment
The Palazzo’s first floor apartment, L’Isola Comacina, overlooks the island of the same name on the far side of the lake. Furnished with beautiful period pieces, the living area has original cotto floors, an antique fireplace, timber beam ceilings, a pianoforte and a step-out balcony above the courtyard that has been known to inspire renditions of “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina”. An internal staircase leads to the zona notte with two bedrooms and a large bathroom, with another full bath downstairs. The spacious kitchen has a working antique fireplace as well as everything you need to rustle up your favorite Italian dishes. Take your meals by the fire in the kitchen or under the dark beams of the covered terrace while gazing out over the deep blue lake.
L’Onda Apartment
The Palazzo’s loft apartment, L’Onda, takes its name from the waves guests can see lapping at the shores below. The open plan kitchen and living area has a sloped ceiling and tasteful furnishings, with low set windows to enjoy the views from the Jacuzzi. Large enough for five adults, the Jacuzzi is the perfect spot to watch the sun go down over the lake and soothe your tired tourist legs. L’Onda’s zona notte is towards the back of the apartment, promising a quiet, restful sleep. There are two double bedrooms, one with a skylight perfect for stargazing, and one single bedroom as well as two spacious shower rooms.
La Torre Apartment
The Palazzo’s second-floor apartment, La Torre, is spacious and inviting, with an open plan living, dining and kitchen area. This corner apartment has lovely views across the tree-filled park to the harbor and the lake, with the snow-capped mountains rising in the distance. The double bedroom comfortably sleeps two people and includes a spacious bathroom with a Jacuzzi shower.
La Vista
The Palazzo’s junior suite La Vista offers elegant accommodations on the piano nobile (first floor), with a range of stunning original features from the Palazzo’s first life as an aristocratic palace. This palatial lounge cum bedroom has antique furnishings, heavy drapes in luxury Italian fabric and high ceilings featuring original frescoes that have been lovingly restored by local artists. Thanks to the suite’s many windows, the room has ample natural light as well as enchanting views of the lakes and the snow-capped mountains beyond. A partial wall conceals the spacious bathroom (but not the ceiling frescoes!), which has modern fittings including a Jacuzzi shower.
Il Fuoco
The first floor double room Il Fuoco takes its name from the sky-high burnt orange walls leading up to its charming timber ceiling. This room comfortably sleeps two, with handpicked antique furnishings and a large window offering plentiful natural light. The room has its own spacious shower room with a Jacuzzi shower.
The Palazzo’s guests will enjoy luxuriating in the beautiful public spaces: the bar with its 17th century frescoes, the reception room with its period marble fireplace, the breakfast room with its Renaissance-era frescoes and a stunning array of local specialties offered daily, as well as the historic stone courtyard with its antique well and stunning lake views. For a special treat, ask about our special tasting events featuring the best of Lombardy’s artisanal products under the vaulted stone ceilings of La Cantina.

The beautiful promontory of Bellagio sits below your position at the Villa, truly offering something for everyone. On route to the historical centre of Bellagio, stop off at the local bakery to sample some of the best brioche that you will ever taste, before enjoying the fine delights of the town itself.
